The Future, circa 1985

Ms. Walker recently discovered this book in her mailbox. Someone had found it and returned it to the school, but it hasn’t been used in years – the publication date is 1985!

Ms. Walker and Mr. Weber thought it would be fun, before recycling it, to look through it and laugh at the dated illustrations. Especially the chapter that “predicted” the future of communication! Laughing at out-of-date books is one of our hobbies.

Except, surprisingly, Exploring Canada, was uncannily prescient in its vision of future communication tools. In fact, this humble elementary textbook predicted, pretty accurately, some of the technology we enjoy in 2013! Click on the pages below to enlarge them.
